A fascinating piece of research from our 1st X1 scorer John Hendry.

John Lester was born on 1 August, 1871 and was playing a game in Yorkshire in 1892 when he met Dr. Isaac Sharpless.
That means he was 20/21 at the time.
As he began playing cricket at a very young age there’s a good chance he might of played for Penrith.
However he may have moved to Yorkshire at an early age.
