Bernie’s “walking to a hundred is featured in this weeks Herald. Donations can be made via the clubs website.

PENRITH Cricket Club vice-chairman Bernie Winter is aiming to score his first century for the club on Saturday, 4th July, when he plans to walk 100 laps — 27 miles — of the Tynefield Park ground.
Bernie, who is also the club’s fundraising group leader, will be raising much needed funs for the club and the NHS.
He said the idea came to him when he discovered he was enjoying long walks while on furlough from his job at Jeld-Wen door company in Penrith.
“I was furloughed from work for five weeks and during that time I did a lot of walking and thoroughly enjoyed it,” he said. “I’m the club’s fundraising group leader, and because of the (coronavirus) situation and the club struggling and not being able to hold its usual events, I thought I’d better try and do something, so the idea came from there.
“I thought there should be a theme, and because I never reached a century playing for Penrith, that is the link."
